Avron House - Accessibility Statement

Owing to the age and design of Avron House, we are unable to accommodate wheelchair users due to restricted access to the property and some of the rooms.

However, we do encourage people with limited mobility and the elderly to visit us, and we are only too happy to help where possible.

Detailed below is our accessibility statement for the building.

Aids or Services Provided

• Hostess trays
• Parking for disabled or people with mobility problems
• Assistance dogs allowed in premises by prior arrangement
• Belongings in rooms not moved during servicing of rooms
• Lamps in rooms
• Help with luggage to room
• Reception: help with registration if required and a magnifying glass is available
• Ground floor rooms available
• Guest rooms have: easy to read signs, chair or stool in each room, fire evacuation procedures in welcome pack and on room door (can be read to guests if required)
• Dietary requirements will be catered for if possible, by prior arrangement

Access to Main Entrance

This can be via the footpath from the public highway through the front garden, containing 12 steps of varying height up to the front door.

OR

Can be via the driveway to the side of the property. The first part of the driveway is a steep incline then levels out with the building giving a level access to the front of the property, then 3 steps up to the front door. The driveway does give level access to the private rear kitchen door, with one small step down into the kitchen, which can be used for access by people with mobility problems.

Inside the Building

• Lighting is provided in corridors and left on all night.
• We have two ground floor rooms available for guests who cannot manage stairs. These are:
  • Room 1 - Single. Accessed from main hallway. Level access with rest of ground floor giving easy access to dining room. En-suite contains a shower with step up to the shower cubicle.
  • Room 2 - Twin. Accessed from main hallway, with a step up and a step down into the room. En-suite contains a shower.
